My journey with THE THOUSAND SPLENDID SUNS.
Hey there !
So today, whenever you're reading this, I want to share with you my thoughts about the book, A Thousand Splendid Suns. An important advice here, if you were planning to read this book ever since I could only tell you one thing- GO FOR IT, JUST GO AND GRAB THAT BOOK YOU FELLOW READER. I want to thank my best friend ,Jemima Gattagalla (go and stalk her,she has an amazing personality) who has gifted me this book on my birthday, also suggesting that I should write a blog post on it. I have decided to tell mostly about how I felt about it, this wonderful book.
That means very very less spoilers. I want you to have that raw stranger experiences to this book that I have already snatched away from you for about ten percent. It's just ten percent, I think it's fine 😄 .
I'm so glad that I, being a lazy reader that I'm, have completed this novel, this heart wrenching yet most beautiful journey that the author has marvelously written. Khaled Hosseini, is such a gift to mankind. I'm so not qualified to talk about the wonder he has created that this book is.I feel so grateful to have read this work of his. I can only tell,I feel like a pebble. Also, this is the first book I have read written by him. I'm planning to read THE KITE RUNNER next, just said that if you were wondering about a gift you want to give me for this Diwali. 😝😈
To be honest I was a complete stranger to this book, I dint knew what the story is about, whom or what was I reading about ? My friend told me that somewhere in the story there is something about Taliban, that's all I knew. So obviously I wasn't prepared for the emotional ride that it took me through.
When I started reading it, the flow was effortless, I instantly fell in love with Mariam whom you'll meet when you read the book. I was living the beautiful surroundings, fishing, singing and cooking along with her. At one point in the beginning of her journey her friendship with Mullah Faizullah, suddenly reminded me of a story from my fifth grade's English textbook, Heidi makes her bed. I felt the beautiful bond that Heidi and her Grand Father developed and shared at the end of the story. Such Beauty. In the course of reading I fell in love again, this time with Laila and you'll know why when you meet her too. I have felt happiness in little of the little things that happened in their lives.
I got so attached to the characters of the book, that I felt everything like them. When their expectations shattered I could feel the anger for them, I could feel their pain when they lost their loved ones, the helplessness when faced with domestic abuse, the hope for betterment, hatred when cheated upon, courage to face the wicked destiny, heart breaks and goodbyes, everything.
It's a story about a whole lot of things. It's about friendship, love, heart breaks, violence, shock, sacrifice, destruction and death. It's about life taking sudden turns into all something new, never experienced before, shattering every piece that was held together all at once, and for all. Its about a Country's glory, it's people, their hardships, their sacrifices, their celebrations, their disappointments, their rise and fall.
To sum up everything, it tells us that hope should never die,for dreams shall not be shattered come what may, that all it takes is the courage to face what life throws at us, to hold on, to mend,to try and bring change. It reminds us how of all the beings only humans are given the power, for atheists it's humans have the power,to CREATE. To create life again,to create opportunity, to love, care and build. I so want you to read the book and I can't wait to know your perspective too, Happy Reading 💗
